I’m so nervous! How can I prepare for my FIRST Brazilian Wax?
Your First Brazilian Wax: How to Prepare & Feel Confident
Hi Glow Babes!
So, you’ve decided to take the plunge and book your first Brazilian wax—congrats! Whether you’re here because you’re tired of shaving, prepping for a special occasion, or just want to try something new, we’re thrilled to welcome you to Glow Girl Esthetics. We know that trying something new—especially something as intimate as a Brazilian—can feel a little intimidating. But don’t worry! At Glow Girl Esthetics, we’re all about making sure you feel comfortable, confident, and cared for.
Here’s everything you need to know to prepare for your first Brazilian wax:
Step 1: Let’s Bust the Myths
First things first—don’t believe the scary stories! Yes, waxing involves some discomfort, but it’s not the unbearable ordeal you may have heard about. At Glow Girl, we specialize in Brazilian waxing and use techniques that prioritize your comfort. Plus, we’ll guide you through every step of the process.
We understand that every body is different, and there’s no “perfect” way to show up. Whether you’re rocking a full bush or have been shaving for years, there’s zero judgment here. Our space is all-inclusive, plus-sized friendly, LGBTQ+ friendly, and POC-friendly, so you can feel at ease knowing you’re in a safe and welcoming environment.
Step 2: How to Prep Before Your Appointment
Grow It Out
To get the smoothest results, your hair needs to be at least 1/4 inch long—think the length of a grain of rice. If it’s shorter, the wax may not grab the hair properly. Haven’t shaved in a while? No problem—there’s no such thing as “too much” for us to handle!Exfoliate Gently
A day or two before your appointment, give the area a gentle exfoliation using a mild scrub or a soft washcloth. This helps remove dead skin cells and allows the wax to grip the hair better, resulting in a smoother finish.Stay Hydrated
Drink plenty of water leading up to your appointment. Hydrated skin tends to handle waxing better, reducing sensitivity and irritation.Avoid Caffeine & Alcohol
On the day of your appointment, try to skip coffee or alcohol. These can make your skin more sensitive to waxing.Wear Comfortable Clothing
Opt for loose-fitting clothing and breathable fabrics. After your wax, you’ll want to avoid anything tight that could rub against your skin.
Step 3: What to Expect During Your Appointment
When you arrive at Glow Girl Esthetics, you’ll be greeted by me, Jasmin, your esthetician. I’m here to make sure you feel as comfortable and informed as possible. I’ll walk you through the process, answer any questions, and keep the vibes lighthearted (and maybe a little funny—my quirky sense of humor is part of the package!).
Here’s the process in a nutshell:
We’ll start by cleansing the area and applying a pre-wax oil to protect your skin.
Using high-quality wax, I’ll remove the hair in sections, working efficiently while checking in with you every step of the way.
If you’re nervous, don’t hesitate to let me know! We can take breaks if needed. I’m here to support you, not rush you.
Step 4: Aftercare is Key
Post-wax care is essential for keeping your skin smooth and irritation-free:
Avoid hot showers, saunas, or intense workouts for 24-48 hours.
Wear loose, breathable clothing to let your skin recover.
Gently exfoliate the area 2-3 times a week starting 3 days after your wax to prevent ingrown hairs.
Keep the area moisturized with a soothing lotion or oil (ask me for recommendations if you’re unsure what’s best).
Step 5: Keep It Up!
The first wax is often the most uncomfortable because you’re removing hair that’s been growing for a while. But trust me, it gets easier with consistency! Regular waxing every 4-6 weeks helps the hair grow back finer and less densely, making each session quicker and less painful.
You’ve Got This!
